Absolutely beautiful, serene, private and hidden ranch just north of the Marin/Sonoma County line. Owner has built huge ponds for aquaculture and has frontage on Schultz Slough and the Petaluma River. The first photo shows approximate property lines, the location of the lakes and ponds, the historic Petaluma River and the frontage on Hwy 101. The wetlands along the river and the sloughs are home to all kinds of birds and wildlife. There are heron and egret rookeries in the trees on the ranch as well as eagles, hawks, kites, foxes, deer and raccoons. The rectangular ponds were created for raising exotic fish. They currently have black bass, blue gill, sun fish and catfish. There is an unused rail line that creates a levee between the marsh and the uplands. Overflow from the ranch drains through this levee without the need of pumps. It is hoped the rail line will be re-activated at some time in the future to provide a path for specially designed environmentally friendly trains to carry passengers and some freight between Larkspur Landing in Marin County and Cloverdale in Sonoma County. The lone whistle of a slow train has been missed in this area for almost 20 years.Listing originally posted at http
